报告题目：Radiative Heat Transfer in Combustion

Although radiation is often the dominate model for heat transfer in combustion systems, very little attention had been paid until recently to accurate modeling of radiative heat transfer in such systems. The governing equation for radiative heat transfer in nongray participating media is given by the Radiative Transfer Equation (RTE), which includes emission, absorption and scattering. The RTE is an integro-differential equation for radiative intensity in six independent variables (three spatial, two directional and one spectral). Consequently, the high dimensionality of RTEs prevents them from being solved in general conditions. In this talk, I will address the importance of accurate radiative heat transfer modeling in combustion applications, introduce the most popular and and advanced radiative heat transfer modeling methods and present future research ideas for high-fidelity large-scale radiative heat transfer modeling in combustion.
Dr. Tao Ren received his Ph.D. from the University of California, Merced in 2015, During that time, he worked with Prof. Michael Modest to develop inverse radiation tools for retrieving temperature and species concentration from radiometric measurements in laminar and turbulent combustion system. He received his Bachelor degree from Xi'an Jiaotong University in 2008, and Master degree from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 2011. He is currently a Postdoctoral Scholar at the University of California, Merced, conducting research in the field of radiative heat transfer in combustion.
