Flame propagation and combustion products in SiH4-N2O-Ar mixtures.

The laminar flame speed of SiH4-N2O-Ar and SiH4-H2-N2O-Ar mixtures were measured for the first time using the spherically expanding flame technique. A detailed reaction model has been developed and demonstrates overall quantitative agreement with the experimental data. In addition, the condensed combustion products were sampled and analyzed using transmission electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. A mixture of amorphous silica particles and crystalline silicon nanowires were observed.
