
Research at the Center for Combustion Energy aims to be comprehensive in coverage and deep in investigation, emphasizing the fundamental and transdisciplinary nature of combustion science and its intrinsic relevance to diverse technological applications for the betterment of humanity. To date, we have developed strong programs in combustion theory,combustion and quantum chemistry, fluid mechanics, turbulent combustion, turbulent and multi-phase flows, transport phenomena, computational fluid dynamics and combustion, and advanced laser-based instrumentation, with applications in energy sustainability, emission control and the environment, fuel design, power generation, propulsion, and fire and explosion safety.
