Overview

The ACE program is supported by the Department of Energy and Power Engineering and organized by the Center for Combustion Energy. It aims at cultivating top international talents in the field of energy and power, automotive and aerospace engineering. The program is led by Professor Chung K. Law (Robert H. Goddard Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Princeton University). Every year 25 students Tsinghua freshman students are enrolled from the greater field of energy, mechanical, aviation, and power.

Chair Professor: Professor Chung K. Law

Professor Chung K. Law is the Robert H. Goddard Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Princeton University. He is a member of the US National Academy of Engineering (NAE), a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences (AAAS), the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the American Physical Society (APS). He is the former president of the Combustion Institute and has received a number of professional and best paper awards for his contributions in a wide variety of sciences.

Program Features

•Fundamental courses and core courses are all delivered in English.

•Multidimensional Academic Exchange Platform: ACE students will join the student exchange program at Princeton University for one semester, and the credits will be accepted by both universities. There are also summer training programs for further study in other prestigious universities overseas.

•Internationally recognized faculty: Core courses are delivered by the world-renowned professors for the whole semester.

•Students are paired up with excellent mentors to guide their undergraduate studies and future careers.

Mission and Goals

Tsinghua University emphasizes internationalized education and outstanding research. The pedagogical system and the curriculum design of the “ACE” program are derived from the successful experiences of engineering programs in world-class universities like Princeton, UC-Berkeley, MIT, and Caltech. We aim at cultivating academic talents and professionals with broad foundation of knowledge, innovative thinking, and international vision. We emphasize the value of practice and development of individual’s integrity and aspiration to serve to the greater fields in combustion and energy in the country. Our students will not only have solid foundation of science and technology, they will also possess skills for leadership and critical thinking.

The ACE Program has created a dynamic academic environment for students, and set up a model for cultivating innovative talents in accordance with their aptitude and developed an extensive international teaching program. Our program welcomes aspiring students who are willing to devote themselves in the field of energy and power technology.
