On September 21, 2016, a group from the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA), led by Mr. Changkui Zhou, the Deputy Director of SAFEA, came to visit CCE during their visit of Tsinghua University. SAFEA, together with the Ministry of Education, co-sponsored the “Introduction of Foreign Experts into Higher Education for Innovation (111 Program)”. Tsinghua University has been supported for the “Innovation and Foreign Expert Introduction Site (IFEI Site) on Advanced Combustion Energy Science and Technology” under the 111 Program since 2013. CCE is a major component of this IFEI site, which aims to establish an educational platform for nurturing innovative leaders and a world-class research institution on combustion energy and combustion science. Prof. C.K. Law, the director of CCE, is the Academic Master of the IFEI site and Prof. Qiang Yao is the responsible person of the 111 Program for this IFEI site.
During the visit of the SAFEA group, Prof. Qiang Yao briefed the guests on the progresses achieved by the IFEI site since 2013, including the recruitment of oversee experts, education, research, laboratory development, and academic exchange. Prof. Yao expressed his appreciation to SAFEA for its continuous support, especially the recent measures to facilitate the issuing of R-visa to foreign experts to CCE and the IFEI site.
The SAFEA group met with the faculty of CCE and had a guided tour to the High-Pressure Turbulent Flame Lab, the Molecular Beam based Combustion Diagnostics Lab, and the Rapid Compression Machine Lab at CCE.
Mr. Zhou also had short conversations with Prof. Damir Valiev, who started at CCE as an associate professor in August, and Dr. Remy Mevel, who accepted the offer as an associate professor and will join CCE at the end of this year.
