The ceremony for appointing the Chair Professor Group of fluids engineering was held at the lecture hall of Department of Thermal Engineering at Tsinghua University on November 2, 2012.

Vice Chairperson of the University Council Xu Chen issued the letters of appointment to the Chair professors. She congratulated on the establishment and expressed her gratitude and the high expectations to the chair professor group members.

Professor Sau-Hai Lam and Professor Chung K. Law from Princeton University, two of the members in the Group, talked about their original intention and future plan to teach at Tsinghua University.

Professor Chung K. Law, the founding director of CCE, is appointed as the chief chair professor in the Chair Professor Group of fluids engineering at Tsinghua University.

Professor Sau-Hai Lam retires from Princeton University and is a member of American National Academy of Engineering. He was the director of Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in Princeton University and is an important founder in applied mathematics in Princeton, who has made outstanding contributions in the field of fluid mechanics, combustion and control.

The other two Chair Professors are Professor Howard A. Stone from Princeton University and Professor Katepalli R. Sreenivasan from New York University. They are international well-known experts in low Reynolds number flow and turbulence research, respectively.

The ceremony was presided over by Professor Zheng Li, Dean of the Department of Thermal Engineering. The relevant responsible persons in Department of Thermal Engineering and other departments and students and faculty attended this event.
