The noxious pollutants from fossil fuel and biomass combustion poison the very environment in which we live. It is estimated that over 90 percent of the air pollutants are generated from burning fossil fuels. When burning biofuels, more oxygenated pollutant like aldehyde or ketones are formed. The understanding of the mechanisms of pollutant formation during combustion and pollutant transformation in the atmosphere is essential for developing rational strategies of pollutant reduction.
